My senior research project was to compose 24 hours of music, to be performed in one day. Due to the extensive length I chose to write the music in 24 separate sections. I utilized 12 methods of composing (such as recording vinyl to a computer and then editing the recording, or using Max/MSP, a graphical programming software, to program and compose music). Each method of composing produced approximately two hours of music. This allowed me to have “Day” and “Night” sections for the performance, wherein all of the music, produced by the12 methods, is performed throughout the 24 hour period.
